Costs and Upgrades
PDF995, PdfEdit995 and Signature995 are all FREE. However, for $9.95 you may purchase a key to remove the sponsor page which displays each time you run Pdf995. For $19.95 you may purchase a Suite key which works for all three of our products. Purchasing also entitles you to email support by software engineers (12-hour response time).

Do the keys expire?
Keys will work forever with the version of the software current at the time of purchase. Keys will also continue to work with upgraded versions released within one year of the date of purchase. Versions released after that one year period require a new key. For large volume orders and enterprise keys we offer discounted renewals. We encourage you to back up your software and key. We have a limited archive of PdfSuite releases.

What happens if I lose my key?
We encourage you to backup your keys and software installers. We cannot replace lost or misplaced keys older than 12 months.

What is the latest version of pdf995?
The latest versions of all of our products are posted on our Download page.

Why do I get the error message "... is not a valid Win32 application" when I attempt to install the software?
You did not completely download the installers. pdf995s.exe is about 2.3 MB and ps2pdf995.exe is about 5 MB. Download them again and save them to your desktop. Check the file size to make sure you completely downloaded the files. Then run them. If you still have troubles, try downloading www.freeware995.com/bin/pdf995s.exe and www.software995.net/bin/ps2pdf995.exe. If that fails, try downloading www.freeware995.com/misc/pdf995.zip. If that does not help you may wish to try downloading on a different computer. You can then copy the files to your computer. If you still have problems, contact support@software995.com.

How do I determine the version of Pdf995, PdfEdit995 or Signature995 installed on my system?
The version of the software appears at the bottom of the readme file. Before contacting customer support, please be sure you are running the latest versions of Pdf995 software.

Privacy Policy
We do not use cookies. We use IP addresses to administer the site, track user movement and gather demographic information for aggregate use. IP addresses are not linked to personally identifiable information. Names and email addresses gathered from sales will not be shared, sold or rented, except in connection with the sale of the assets of the business, or as otherwise required by law.

Is Pdf995 spyware?
No. Neither Pdf995 nor any Software995 products monitor sites the user visits or report back how our products are used.

Security
Online transactions through our site use industry-standard SSL encryption to protect users' information. We do not store financial information processed through our site. System Requirements
We support Windows 95, 98, 2000 and ME, NT 4.0 and XP (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows 2003 (32 bit and 64 bit), Windows Vista (32 and 64 bit); Citrix/Terminal Server and configuration as a shared network printer. In order to encrypt and decrypt documents with Signature995 you will need Internet Explorer 6.0 or later; older systems may alternatively install the Microsoft Internet Explorer High Encryption Pack.

I have installed TaxCut and now I can't use Pdf995. What should I do?
Installing the latest Pdf995 printer driver and free converter downloads over the existing installs will resolve the issue.

How do I stop pdf995 from automatically displaying PDFs after creation?
Install pdfEdit995 and turn off Autolaunch.

How do I install Pdf995 on Citrix/Terminal Server?
Install Pdf995 from the console as a main printer to the default installation folder (program files). Run pdfEdit995, go to the autoname tab and select options to specify that the save as should open to the users' my documents folders. Pricing is based upon the number of named users who will be using Pdf995. Keys may be used on all of a user's systems. For instance, a user can run the software on Terminal server, on their desktop and their notebook.

Special instructions for installing keys to prevent the sponsor pages from appearing on Citrix/Terminal server or when pdf995 is installed as a shared network printer may be obtained from support@software995.com.

How do I install PdfEdit995 and Signature995 for normal users on Terminal Server?
Once all users can print to pdf995 you may run in user mode. User mode enables normal users to run Pdfedit995 and Signature995 on terminal server. Users can encrypt pdfs, combine pdfs, configure auto-launch and auto-attach to email, insert bookmaks and links, batch process files, optimize files, stamp and number pdfs, summarize text, and convert to DOC and HTML.

Add

user mode=1

to the parameters section of .\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini. If you are running in user mode, note that the first time a user prints to pdf995, the software will copy the global pdf995.ini file to their documents and settings\\application data\pdf995\res folder. If the ini file specied that the save as should open to a folder not accessible to the user, there will be problems. This is the reason we specify the administrator should specify the Save As opens to the users' my documents folders. You can always delete or modify the users' personal pdf995.ini file if necessary.

How can I set up PDF995 as a shared network printer?
1. Install pdf95 Version 8.3 or later and the free converter on the server. Rename the pdf995 printer to "PDF995Share" (case-sensitive). Share the printer. Right click on the PDF995Share and make sure it is Online.

2. Share the c:\program files\pdf995 folder as "pdf995". Give users execute access to the pdf995\res\drivedir and pdf995\res\convert folders. Give users write access to the pdf995\res\pdf995.ini file. Make sure users can execute \\servername\pdf995\res\drivedir\pdfsave.exe and modify \\servername\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini.

3. Share a pdfdata folder on the server. Example: \\servername\pdfdata\. Create a folder named pdf995 within \\servername\pdfdata\ . Give users read/write/modify access to \\servername\pdfdata\pdf995\.

4. Add the following to the parameters section of ..pdf995\res\pdf995.ini where "servername" is replaced by the name of your server. Be sure to end the path with a "\"

Initial Dir=MYDOCUMENTS
Data Folder=\\servername\pdfdata\

5. Vista only: Uncheck "Render Print Jobs on Client Computer" under PDF995Share properties under Sharing.

6. Confirm the administrator on the server can print to pdf995. If they cannot, make sure temp.ps is written to the \\servername\pdfdata\pdf995 folder. Try printing remotely as a normal user.

7. Optional: In order to minimize wait time run pdfedit995 and select the middle autoname choice. Click options. Specify the pdfs should be saved to the users own my documents folder.

Optional: Adding "User Mode=1" to the [Parameters] section of .\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini file will configure pdf995 to clear the printer queue immediately after printing.

If used without a key, sponsor pages will appear. For shared use, key pricing is based on the number of users who will be using pdf995. The keys may be used on all of a user's systems. For instance, a user can run the software on Terminal server, on their desktop and their notebook. What is the best way to install pdf995 on multiple desktops?
Upon purchase of 25 or more keys, we can provide an autokey setup utility at no additional charge. The autosetup will quietly install Softwar995 products and disable sponsor pages in a single step.

A free autosetup utility that quietly installs the products but does not disable sponsor pages may be downloaded here.

Here are instructions for autosetup.exe:

Place autosetup.exe in a folder optionally containing pdf995.exe (or pdf995s.exe and ps2pdf995.exe), pdfedit.exe, signature995.exe. pdfedithtmlmodule.exe, and stdencrypt995.exe, autoencrypt.exe, searchwithin.exe, omniformat.exe, backup995, photoedit995.exe, zip995, ftp995setup.exe, photoshare.exe, epad.exe, wordbrowser.exe, pdfcompress.exe and ultrapdf.exe.

When run, the software will be quietly installed and the key applied so that no sponsor pages will appear. You don't need the separate key generator if you use the autosetup.exe.

1. You can also specify the destination folder by adding install.ini. The Install.ini file should look as follows:

Don't specify the pdf995 and don't use quotes. End the path in a \. Alternatively, add the following to Install.ini:

[Parameters]
Path=PROGRAMFILES

Pdf995 will install in the program files folder of the system. If you are on XP, 2003 Server or 2000 Professional , make sure users have write access to the pdf995\res folder. You need to give execute permissions to pdf995/res/convert/gswin32c.exe, pdf995\res\drivedir\psconvert.exe and pdf995\res\drivedir\pdfsave.exe.

2. You may also place a copy of pdf995.ini in the folder to preconfigure pdf995. It will be copied to ..pdf995\res\pdf995.ini.

3. You may specify Initial Dir=1 in the Parameters section of install.ini. This will cause the Save As dialog to open to the My Documents folder the first time the Save As dialog appears.

4. You may specify Initial Dir=MYDOCUMENTS in the parameters section of the pdf995.ini file. It will cause the Save As dialog to always open to the My Documents folder.

5. You may configure the default pdf995 page size to A4 on XP and Win 2000, by adding

Default A4=1

to the parameters section of pdf995.ini.

6. The autosetup utility can use any version of Ghostscript as an alternative to including ps2pdf995.exe. The latest is this free Artifex Ghostscript conversion module (not distributed by Software995):

a. Create the following folder tree subordinate to the folder containing autosetup.exe: ..\pdf995\res\convert

b. Open gs853w32.exe using WinZip or Zip995 (www.zip995.com). Copy the contents of the following folders (not the folders themselves) to the convert folder: 1. fonts, 2. gs8.51/bin, 3. gs8.51/lib

7. If config.bat is placed in the same folder as autosetup.exe, it will be run following installation. This is optional and a way to customize the install.

8. In order to suppress the readme from displaying you may need to add Display Readme=0 to the parameters section of pdf995.ini. Use pdf995 v6.491 or later.

9. You can specify a message to display when the install is about to begin or complete by adding the message text to install.ini. The Install.ini value should appear in the Parameters section as follows:

Setup Welcome Message=Your message goes here

10. You may copy additional files to the pdf995 destination folder by including a folder subordinate to the autosetup folder named pdf995 and containing files you wish to copy. They may be contained in subfolders.

11. You may install the Word toolbar if pdfEdit995 is installed by adding the following to the Parameters section of install.ini:

Install Word Toolbar=1

with pdfedit995 v8 and earlier. With pdfedit995 v8.01 and later add:

Use Word Buttons=1
Use Toolbar=1

to the parameters section of pdf995.ini.

What can I do if Pdf995 generates 0 byte PDF files?

Install the latest pdf995 printer driver over your current install. Make sure users have execute permissions to .\pdf995\res\convert\ and .\pdf995\res\drivedir\ and their contents. If Office 2002 or 2003 is installed, try ending the CTFMON task in task manager and test again. If that resolves the issue, then turn off speech and handwriting recognition by referring to either Microsoft Technet Article KB326526 or KB823586

What should I do if Pdf995 printer jobs remain in the printer queue?

Open the pdf995 readme from start-program software995. Note the location of the readme in the browser address bar. Uninstall pdf995 from control panel-add/remove programs. Reboot.

If the readme.html noted above was not in the program files\pdf995 folder: If your program files folder is c:\program files\, then download and open www.freeware995.com/misc/program_files.zip. Right click on program_files.reg and select "Open" or "Merge". Click OK.
If your program files folder is NOT c:\program files\:
1. Run regedit.exe
2. Create the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\pdf995
3. Add a STRING named "Path" and set its value to program files folder (such as "c:\program files\"). Make sure the specified folder exists. Don't forget the last slash.

Install the latest download of pdf995. You won't need to reapply your key.

If you still have issues AND this is not Vista, a shared network printer, or a terminal server system try adding

TS Enabled=0

to the parameters section of pdf995\res\pdf995.ini.

How do I configure Pdf995 to run on a Limited User Account on XP Home?
1. Right click on c:\program files\pdf995 and click Sharing and Security. Share the folder as "pdf995" and check "Allow network users to change my files."
2. Add

data folder=c:\program files\

to the parameters section of c:\program files\pd995\res\pdf995.ini. This will cause the temp.ps file to be written to c:\program files\pdf995\temp.ps.

How do I insert hyperlinks and bookmarks into PDFs?
In order to insert hyperlinks or bookmarks into the last pdf created with pdf995 select the hyperlink or bookmark tab in pdfEdit.

If you are generating PDF's from Word 2000 or later, you can use the Word toolbar addin that comes with pdfEdit. It automatically ports links, bookmarks and the table of contents (links to bookmarks) to the pdf. Links to urls and bookmarks will appear as internal links in the PDF. Bookmarks will appear as PDF bookmarks. Alternatively, batch mode in pdfEdit and OmniFormat will convert Word documents to pdf document containing links.

How can I convert PDF to HTML or DOC files?
PdfEdit995 supports conversion of PDF file to HTML and DOC. Install PdfEdit995 and the HTML Conversion Module. The Conversion Module can convert PDF to formatted HTML or unformatted DOC files. In order to output .DOC files, you need Word 2000 or later and should specify the .doc file extension in the Save As dialog box.

How can I dynamically convert HTML to PDF?
OmniFormat can rapidly and accurately convert HTML to PDF. OmniFormat includes HTML2PDF995, a utility for rapid, quality conversion of HTML to PDF and other formats. HTML2PDF995 may be called from other applications or run from the command line to quietly convert HTML to PDF. See the OmniFormat Read Me.

How do I combine documents into a single PDF?
PdfEdit995 v6.8 (and higher) offers two methods for Combining documents into a single PDF.

1. Combine mode at print time: Print the first document, turn on Combine mode in pdfEdit995. Make sure you are not overwriting a PDF that is open in Acrobat. Print subsequent documents to pdf995. Each new pdf will contain all previously printed documents. Turn off combine mode when done.
Note: You can print a section of a pdf from the free Acrobat to pdf995. This can be used to add, remove and reorder pages.

2. The Combine Existing PDF tool enables automatic concatenation of existing PDFs. The Extract PDF Pages tool enables extraction of a range of pages from a PDF to a new PDF. This can be used to add, remove and reorder pages.

Installing to a custom folder
Requires the following versions: pdf995 v5.41 or later; pdfEdit v4.3 or later; signature995 v3.3 or later. In order to install to alternate folders, do the following before installing:
1. Run regedit.exe
2. Create the key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\pdf995
3. Add a STRING named "Path" and set its value to "d:\your folder\"
Make sure the specified folder exists. Don't forget the last slash.

How Do I Print from AutoCad?
A bug in AutoCad 2000i (this has been fixed with AutoCad 2002) interferes with printing to Pdf995. In order to print from AutoCad 2000i please add "TS Enabled=0" to the [Parameters] section of c:\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini.

On older versions of AutoCad it may be necessary to add IsXPor2000=0 to the [Parameters] section of c:\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini and then run c:\pdf995\setup.exe to enable large format printing.

How do I restrict printing, modification and copying of text and images from PDF files?
The Pdf995 Standard Encryption module for Signature995 uses 128 bit RC4 encryption to restrict users from printing, modifying, and copying text and images. It also uses 128 bit RC4 encryption to password protect PDF files. The Standard Encryption module is available for Signature995 v4.0+. It is free and may be downloaded from Signature995.

How can I configure PDF995 to create PDF's with reduced filesize?
Go to Pdf995 Properties-Printing-Preferences-Advanced and change Print Quality to 300 DPI. Run PdfEdit995. Select the Image tab and change image resolution from High to Medium. The actual values for the High Medium and Low selections in pdfEdit995 can be customized by editing high.set, low.set and medium.set files found in the pdf95\res\utilities folder using a text editor. Additional reduction can be achieved by selecting the Fonts tab in PdfEdit995 and specifying PDF v1.2. Further reduction can be achieved with the PdfEdit995 PDF Compression tool. The PDF Compression tool is accessible from the Web View tab of PdfEdit995 v7.2 or later.

How can I add a custom page size on Windows XP or 2000?
In the Control Panel select Printers and Faxes. Select File->Server Properties. Choose the Forms tab to specify a custom page size.

How do I print alternate page sizes on Windows XP or 2000?
When printing from an application, select the PDF995 printer, click Properties or Preferences and then click the Advanced button. Adjust the page size as required. If this fails, try adding IsXPor2000=0 to the Parameters section of c:\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini and run c:\pdf995\setup.exe.

How can I create PDF from PageMaker on Windows 2000 and XP using PDF995?
If you have trouble printing to Pdf995 from PageMaker on Windows 2000 or XP please add IsXPor2000=0 to the [Parameters] section of c:\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini and running c:\pdf995\setup.exe.

Does the Pdf995 Printer Driver work with other Postscript to PDF converters?
Yes. The Pdf995 Printer Driver can be configured to add functionality to Acrobat Distiller and other installed Postscript to PDF converters. At download, pdf995 will ask you if you would like to configure pdf995 to work with the converter we offer free of charge. If you configure pdf995 to work with the free Converter and later wish to reconfigure pdf995 to use the default Postscript converter on your system, you may add the following to the [Parameters] section of c:\pdf995\res\pdf995.ini: "TS Enabled=0", "Use Default Distiller=1"

The GPL Conversion module includes a partial version of GNU Ghostscript. Pdf995 supports other Postscript-to-PDF converters. GNU Ghostscript is distributed under the GNU General Public License.
